Katie Cover, Swim Instructor

Katie currently works as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher in Greeley while pursuing a postgraduate degree focusing on Special Education. Her interest in teaching began when she struggled in school as a child and personally experienced how a passionate educator can change someone’s life. She loves having the opportunity to pay forward the compassion and support she was given to her students every day.

Originally from Montana, Katie also lived in Kentucky and Texas before landing in Northern Colorado in the early 2000’s. Some of her most foundational memories are of playing in backyard ponds, local hot springs, and community pools with her family. She began swimming competitively at a young age and then worked teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding throughout High School and College. She still races her sister when they swim together, and she still wins every time!

Outside the pool and classroom, Katie enjoys spending time with her friends, sister, and two cats. She can frequently be found dancing at concerts, browsing the sci-fi section at the library, or rolling dice while playing Dungeons and Dragons. Katie is excited to get to know her students and feels honored to be able to assist them in reaching their swimming goals. She believes the water is a magical place that everyone should be given the chance to experience. She also loves corny jokes and would love to hear one from you when you see her on the pool deck!
