Our Story
TheraSWIM began in 2017, founded by Susan Hunt, PT, DPT, with a simple but powerful mission: to provide high-quality aquatic therapy and adaptive swimming services in Northern Colorado. Susan started with the intention of seeing just a few patients and swimmers—driven by her passion for aquatic therapy and the remarkable impact she had witnessed in her patients’ lives.
What she didn’t expect was the overwhelming demand for these services in the community. As word spread, TheraSWIM gradually expanded, welcoming adaptive swim instructors, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to the team. At first, the program operated in various locations across Northern Colorado—hotel pools, private facilities, and recreation centers—meeting families where they were.
As TheraSWIM grew, so did the need for greater support and structure. In 2022, we took a big step forward by renting our first land-based clinic space, allowing us to offer more comprehensive care and administrative support. Around that time, Susan began envisioning a unified home for our therapists, instructors, and families—a central location where the heart of TheraSWIM could truly take root.
After two years of searching and planning, that vision became a reality. In the summer of 2024, we proudly opened our very own facility at Loveland Yards. The space was quickly filled with the energy and joy of the children, young adults, and families we serve. And the journey doesn’t stop there—we’re excited to expand into the neighboring unit in summer 2025 to meet the growing needs of our community.
Since 2017, TheraSWIM has grown from a one-person company into a thriving center for specialized, compassionate care. At our core, we remain committed to being a safe, loving, and fun environment where children and young adults can access the support they need to thrive.
